Life Path 2

Life Path 2 is the number of the person who makes a pair work. Pythagorean numerology reads the Life Path off nothing but the birth date. Month, day, and year are cut to one figure apiece, master numbers kept whole, then added and reduced a last time. When that final total lands on 2, the tradition reads a life organised around cooperation, diplomacy, and the quiet work of keeping people together.

Only one total reduces to 2 — 20 — so it is one of the less common life paths. Across the two centuries from 1900, it accounts for 5.0 per cent of birth dates. Four other totals would reduce to 2 but stop at 11, the first master number, and have their own page. Where the number comes from

A birth date can only reach 2 through a total of 20. A plain total of 2 never happens, because month, day, and year each reduce to at least 1 before they are added. The totals 11, 29, 38, and 47 would each come down to 2 by ordinary addition. The tradition treats 11 as a master number and stops there, so those dates are read as 11/2.
